On behalf ofCrown-Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs Canada– Northwest Territories Region, I am pleased to inform you of an exciting opportunity forup to five (5)Indigenous students,ages 12 to 15, to represent the Northwest Territories at a National Science Camp as part of the First Nations and Inuit Youth Employment Strategy (FNIYES).

The week-long camp will be heldJuly 21-28, 2019 at Trent University in Peterborough, Ontario. The camp is hosted by Indigenous Services Canada in partnership with local First Nations, and Kenjgewin Teg Educational Institute. Northwest Territories representatives will meet and interact with Indigenous students from across Canada while participating in a variety of dynamic educational experiences focusing on science and technology.

To be considered, applicants mustcomplete the application and provide:

  1. An essay describing why they want to participate in the National Science camp and what they could contribute to the camp.
  2. A letter of recommendation provided by a community leader, teacher or principal outlining why the student should represent their region at the national camp.

All costs for participation in the camp, including travel, meals, and accommodations for participants will be provided.
