Hotıì ts’eeda is proud to launch the Yahkeh Naa’ih Mentorship Program, a new 18-month mentorship and skill building program for NWT youth interested in Indigenous health, wellness and research.

The made-in-the-north program will bring together a cohort of NWT Indigenous youth to access mentorship and professional development opportunities and build a network of leaders in health and wellness across the territory. Apply for this program to:

  • Join a cohort of future community leaders
  • Engage with and enhance traditional and western knowledge about Indigenous health, wellness and research
  • Participate in on-the-land, in-person and video-conference meetings
  • Develop your own community project

Participants will be able to complete the program from their home communities, while in school, or working. All NWT Indigenous Youth (age 18 – 35) are invited to apply.

Yahkeh Naa’ih means ‘we see it dawning’ in the Gwich’in Language. This program is housed within the Gwich’in Tribal Council, a Governing Council partner of Hotıì ts’eeda.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Indigenous NWT Youth between 18 and 35 years old;
  • Interest in building leadership skills;
  • Interest in health and wellness careers and / or Indigenous health research in the Northwest Territories;
  • Open to new learning opportunities; Willingness to learn about traditional and western health, wellness and research;
  • Identify ability to travel within the NWT including any personal circumstances restricting travel. Such circumstances will not be a detriment in the application process, but are required to determine scheduling of in-person and on-the-land meetings
